Classic Tomato Sauce

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs ripe plum tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/3 cup snipped fresh basil

Recipe

  • 1 peel, seed, and finely chop the fresh plum tomatoes, if using.
  • 2 in a large saucepan or dutch oven, heat olive oil or cooking oil over medium heat.
