Ingredients
- 1 (1/4 ounce) package yeast
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup shortening or 1/3 cup lard
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup wheat chex cereal
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 375f and grease baking sheet.
- 2 soften yeast in water.
- 3 sift flour sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a medium sized bowl.
- 4 cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- 5 pour buttermilk over cereal; mix well.
- 6 add to dry ingredients with yeast mixture.
- 7 mix just until well-moistened.
- 8 drop by heaping tablespoons two inches apart on prepared baking sheet.
- 9 bake 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden.
- 10 serve warm.
