Buttermilk Biscuits

Total Time: 27 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 5 tablespoons chilled butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or use regular milk and add a splash of vinegar)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 425.
  • 2 sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  • 3 cut butter into flour until coarse crumbs form.
  • 4 add buttermilk and toss until dough forms.
  • 5 turn onto lightly floured surface and gather into a disk.
  • 6 knead lightly a few times just until smooth. pat into 3/4" thick and cut with biscuit cutter.
  • 7 place biscuits 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden.
