Bourbon Apples

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/2 cup butter, divided
  • 3 tablespoons shallots, chopped
  • 4 golden delicious apples, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1/4 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground cloves

Recipe

  • 1 heat 1/4 c butter in a skillet.
  • 2 add shallots, cook 5 minutes to soften.
  • 3 add apples, bourbon and maple syrup, cook for 3 minutes.
  • 4 add cider and boil for 5 minutes until most of the liquid evaporates.
  • 5 reduce heat and stir in remaining butter 1 tbsp at a time.
  • 6 add nutmeg, cloves and sage, stirring.
  • 7 serve warm.
