Bon Appetit Best Pie Crust

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour, all purpose
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, chilled, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup shortening, chilled cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 5 tablespoons ice water

Recipe

  • 1 mix flour, sugar and salt in kitchenaide mixer.
  • 2 add butter and shortening.
  • 3 mix until it resembless coarse meal.
  • 4 add water and mix until dough begins to clump together.
  • 5 add more water if necessary if you find it too dry
  • 6 remove dough from mixer.
  • 7 divide dough in half.
  • 8 flatten each half and wrap in plastic wrap.
  • 9 refridgerate at least one hour and up to 3 days.
