Bread Machine Hot Cross Buns

Total Time: 3 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 3 hrs Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 teaspoons surebake yeast
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup wholemeal flour (500g total flour)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 egg
  • 320 ml water
  • 75 g mixed peel
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon mixed spice
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sultana
  • 1/4 cup currants
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon hot water

Recipe

  • 1 put dough ingredients in breadmaker, and set on normal dough raisin cycle.
  • 2 after 60 mins add fruit.
  • 3 at end of cycle, divide into two.
  • 4 roll into rolls and cut into 6-8 buns each.
  • 5 place, touching each other, on baking paper.
  • 6 leave to rise for 30 minutes.
  • 7 preheat oven to 180°c.
  • 8 (opt) pipe with equal flour/water mixture.
  • 9 brush on oil.
  • 10 bake for 20 mins at 180°c.
  • 11 brush with glaze.
