Brittle Breakup (toffee)

Ingredients
- Servings: 10
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2/3 cup chopped pecans or 2/3 cup almonds
Recipe
- 1 melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
- 2 add sugar, cook stirring often until melted, 3-4 minute.
- 3 add water and corn syrup.
- 4 cook without stirring until 300 degrees on your candy thermometer, 15-20 min.
- 5 ,do not undercook.
- 6 remove from heat.
- 7 imediately pour a greased baking sheet.
- 8 sprinkle chocolate chips over toffee.
- 9 let stand 5 minute.
- 10 spread over candy base.
- 11 sprinkle nuts over chocolate; press gently.
- 12 cool completely, break into pieces.
- 13 never make candy on a humid day.
