Brittle Breakup (toffee)

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup chopped pecans or 2/3 cup almonds

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  • 2 add sugar, cook stirring often until melted, 3-4 minute.
  • 3 add water and corn syrup.
  • 4 cook without stirring until 300 degrees on your candy thermometer, 15-20 min.
  • 5 ,do not undercook.
  • 6 remove from heat.
  • 7 imediately pour a greased baking sheet.
  • 8 sprinkle chocolate chips over toffee.
  • 9 let stand 5 minute.
  • 10 spread over candy base.
  • 11 sprinkle nuts over chocolate; press gently.
  • 12 cool completely, break into pieces.
  • 13 never make candy on a humid day.
