Braised Whiskey Onions

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 large onions, cut in slices about 2-inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup bourbon

Recipe

  • 1 combine oil and butter in a heavy saucepan.
  • 2 heat together over high heat until butter is melted.
  • 3 add onions and cook for about 2 minutes.
  • 4 add salt, pepper, and broth.
  • 5 cover, reduce heat, and simmer about 10 minutes.
  • 6 add bourbon and cook until the sauce is slightly reduced.
