Bonnach (celtic Bread) From Canada

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 8 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup currants
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Recipe

  • 1 combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. work in shortening as for pastry.
  • 2 add currants.
  • 3 moisten with milk, making a soft dough. knead 10 seconds.
  • 4 pat out on a greased cookie sheet, to a thickness of a 1/2 inch.
  • 5 preheat oven to 375°f and bake for 25 minutes.
  • 6 serve warm with butter.
