Broccoli In Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

- 1 1/2 lbs broccoli
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 tablespoon ginger, finely slivered
- 1 scallion, shredded
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons chicken broth
Recipe
- 1 break broccoli into florets, peel stems and cut into 1-inch pieces.
- 2 bring 3/4 cup broth to boil in medium saucepan.
- 3 add broccoli stems, cover and cook until crisp-tender, 3 to 4 minutes.
- 4 drain, reserving 1/2 cup broth.
- 5 heat oil in wok or large skillet.
- 6 add ginger, onion and garlic and stir fry 1 minute.
- 7 add broccoli stems and florets and stir fry 2 minutes.
- 8 add oyster sauce, sugar and 1/2 cup broth and stir fry 2 minutes.
- 9 for thicker sauce, stir in cornstarch dissolved in 2 teaspoons broth and cook briefly.
- 10 asparagus can be substituted for broccoli.
