Broccoli In Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 1/2 lbs broccoli
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, finely slivered
  • 1 scallion, shredded
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons chicken broth

Recipe

  • 1 break broccoli into florets, peel stems and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  • 2 bring 3/4 cup broth to boil in medium saucepan.
  • 3 add broccoli stems, cover and cook until crisp-tender, 3 to 4 minutes.
  • 4 drain, reserving 1/2 cup broth.
  • 5 heat oil in wok or large skillet.
  • 6 add ginger, onion and garlic and stir fry 1 minute.
  • 7 add broccoli stems and florets and stir fry 2 minutes.
  • 8 add oyster sauce, sugar and 1/2 cup broth and stir fry 2 minutes.
  • 9 for thicker sauce, stir in cornstarch dissolved in 2 teaspoons broth and cook briefly.
  • 10 asparagus can be substituted for broccoli.
