Breadfruit Doughnuts

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup ripe breadfruit, uncooked and mashed
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • oil (for frying)

Recipe

  • 1 beat the egg in a bowl and add uncooked breadfruit pulp and shortening.
  • 2 mix well.
  • 3 sift dry ingredients together and add to the egg/pulp/shortening mixture.
  • 4 mix well.
  • 5 preheat your frying oil to 370°f.
  • 6 drop by spoonfuls into oil and fry until golden brown.
  • 7 drain on paper towels.
  • 8 shake in a bag with sugar to coat outside.
